A Q&A session will follow the presentation.  \n\n\n\nFor the Love of a Manatee: From Rescue and Rehabilitation to Research and Conservation \n\n\n\nWhat does it take to give a manatee a second chance—and to help ensure a future for manatees in the wild? \n\n\n\nIn this presentation\, Jenn Galbraith\, Research Scientist and Coordinator for the Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership (MRP) Post Release Monitoring with Clearwater Marine Aquarium Research Institute (CMARI)\, will take members behind the scenes of the broader mission of manatee conservation at CMARI. Beginning with rescue\, rehabilitation\, and release\, the presentation will explore how caring for individual animals is connected to a much larger effort to understand and protect manatees and the ecosystems they depend on. \n\n\n\nThe presentation will highlight CMARI’s work through the Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership\, including post-release monitoring; research and conservation efforts in Florida’s springs and other critical habitats; and decades of field research and conservation across the Wider Caribbean\, including Belize\, the Dominican Republic\, and Cuba. \n\n\n\nFrom satellite tracking and health assessments to habitat research\, long-term monitoring\, and community-based conservation\, members will discover how science and animal care work together to protect manatees throughout their lives. \n\n\n\nUltimately\, the story of each rescued manatee is part of something much bigger: a commitment to protecting a species\, restoring the habitats it needs to survive\, and building partnerships that extend from Florida to the Caribbean—all for the love of a manatee. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMake sure to visit the new manatee patients\, Axle and Gilbert\, at the Dr. James “Buddy” Powell Manatee Rehabilitation Center after the presentation.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPLAN YOUR VISIT

Parents attending Denim & Dolphins can book the Night at the Aquarium program and drop-off children during this special event! \n\n\n\nNovember 23\, 2026December 21\, 2026January 16\, 2027February 14\, 2027March 19\, 2027May 29\, 2027\n\n\n\nDrop-Off: 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm \n\n\n\nPick-Up: 8:00 pm – 8:30 pm \n\n\n\nPlease Note: \n\n\n\nAvailable for children ages 5 through 10.This is a drop-off program\, requiring an authorized pick up and a waiver. Please see additional attachments to your reservation after booking for more information.Programs begin at the scheduled time. Participant drop off is from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm and pick-up is from 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm. We want to make sure your child has an amazing experience and does not miss their program.
